Québec City Jean Lesage International Airport (YQB): your complete guide to reading before landing in Québec City!
If you’re thinking of visiting Quebec City, Canada, Aéroport International Jean-Lesage (YQB) will most likely be your point of arrival.
This modern and well-organized regional airport serves the Capitale-Nationale region and is an excellent alternative for those who prefer to avoid the hustle and bustle of airports like Montreal or Toronto.
It’s about 15 km from the city center, so this airport is a practical gateway for those who want to explore Quebec’s Old City, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as well as other attractions in Canada’s French-speaking region.
So, in this guide, I explain everything you need to know about Quebec Airport: airlines, direct flights, how to get to the center, car rental, hotels nearby and useful information to better prepare your trip.
Want to avoid any surprises and kick off your Québec trip the right way? Then keep reading.

Flights and airlines operating at Quebec Airport (YQB)
Jean-Lesage Airport receives domestic flights and some international flights, especially to the United States, the Caribbean and Europe (during seasonal periods).
The main airlines operating here are Air Canada, Air Transat, PAL Airlines, Porter Airlines, Sunwing and WestJet.
In addition, in high season, you can find flights with Delta, American Airlines or other international companies.

Are there direct flights from European cities and transatlantic flights to Québec?
Yes, during the summer months there are direct flights from some European cities, such as Paris and Frankfurt.
These routes are mainly operated by Air Transat and Lufthansa, but they are seasonal and have limited availability.
Outside the high season, most flights from Europe to Québec City require a stopover, typically in Montreal, Toronto, or even in the United States.
In my case, since there are currently no direct flights from Portugal to Québec City, the most practical option was to fly to Montreal, which has direct connections from Lisbon and Porto, and then continue to Québec either by plane or by land.

How do I get from Quebec Airport to the city center?
The airport is about 15 to 20 minutes by car from the historic center of Quebec. Transportation options include:
- Bus: RTC line 76 connects the airport to the Sainte-Foy bus and train station. You can then connect to the center. The ticket costs around 3.75 CAD.
- Cab: A ride to the center costs between 35 and 40 CAD.
- Uber and Lyft: These are available and are usually slightly cheaper than cabs.
- Private transfers: These are also a good option, especially for those traveling with luggage or in groups.

How many terminals does Quebec’s Jean-Lesage Airport have?
Jean-Lesage Airport has just one terminal serving domestic and international flights. It is modern, with good services and clear signage in French and English.
The airport has rest areas, duty free stores, restaurants, free Wi-Fi and areas dedicated to families with children.

Is it worth renting a car at Quebec Airport? (I use and recommend DiscoverCars)
If you’re only going to explore the historic city center, I don’t think a car is necessary.
However, to get to know the Quebec region better, such as the Montmorency Falls, Île d’Orléans or even a road trip along the Charlevoix Route, renting a car is the best option.
I use and recommend DiscoverCars, where you can compare prices between several companies and book with free cancellation.

Is there Uber at Quebec Airport? What about other private transportation options?
Yes, Uber operates at the airport and is an economical alternative to a cab.
Meeting points are signposted in the arrivals area. You can also use Lyft, regular cabs or shuttle services.

Is it possible to spend the night at Quebec Airport?
Yes, although the airport is not very big, you can spend the night in public areas if you have an early morning flight.
