Here’s all the information you need about the Umbrella Sky Project Águeda 2024, in Portugal.
Every year, the streets of Águeda take on a colorful sky, made up of colorful umbrellas.
We go whenever we can and, of course, we’ll update this article with new photos.
The Umbrella Sky Project in Águeda is associated with the AgitÁgueda Art Festival, and as well as the colorful sky, visitors can also enjoy concerts, street entertainment and afterhours.
So, it’s an annual initiative that usually takes place between July 1 and September 30 and it’s really worth seeing!

What is the Umbrella Sky Project?
The Umbrella Sky Project is the event of colorful umbrellas hanging in the streets of Águeda.
The funny thing is that traditional businesses also tend to join in the festivities, so it’s common to see umbrellas at gas stations or car dealerships.
This festival takes place in various parts of Águeda, so it’s best to park your car and drive through the streets.

Our experience in Águeda
As I mentioned before, we’ve made a point of going to Águeda for the Umbrella Sky Project for a few years now, as it’s one of the events we never tire of.
What’s more, I think it’s an excellent excuse to take a family trip to a place where we feel at home.
In other words, every time we go to the Umbrella Sky Porject, we spend a very pleasant afternoon!
Last time we went in July and not even the fact that we had just returned from a big trip stopped us from getting in the car and going there.
And as always, it was wonderful! The streets were busy, but not too busy, and there was music everywhere. We had our heads in the air the whole time :)

Of course, we couldn’t ignore the opportunity to indulge in “tripa doce” (sweet crepe), and gluttonous as we are, we chose those stuffed with ovos moles (soft eggs) and chocolate.
If you decide to extend your stay in the region, why not visit Aveiro?

Is the Umbrella Sky Project in Águeda worth a visit?
Yes, in my opinion it’s very worthwhile to visit the event, as the whole city is decorated for the event.
In other words, it’s not just the colorful umbrellas! In fact, there are many, many art installations that deserve to be discovered in an almost treasure hunt through the streets of Águeda.
So if you can’t make it this year, the Umbrella Sky Project promises to open its doors again from July 1 to September 30, 2025!

How do I get to Águeda?
Águeda belongs to the district of Aveiro. So the best way to get there, whether you’re coming from the north or the south of the country, is via the A1.
