Nantes Atlantique Airport (NTE) is located in Bouguenais, about 11 km from the center of Nantes in France.
It operates both national and international flights and is open 24 hours a day, meaning it doesn’t close at night.
Despite only having 1 terminal, it is one of the largest airports in France.
In general, I found everything to be well organized, security was smooth and it was easy to find the boarding gates.
If you need any help, the information desk is located at the entrance, i.e. in Hall No. 1.

How many airports are there in Nantes?
There are 2 airports in Nantes: Nantes Atlantique Airport (NTE) and Saint-Nazaire Montoir Airport (SNR).
Nantes Atlantique Airport (NTE) is the closest to the city and where flights from Portugal usually go.
On the other hand, Saint-Nazaire Montoir Airport (SNR) is located a little further away, 58 km from Nantes.
In this post you will find information about Nantes Atlantique Airport (NTE).

How to get from Nantes Airport to the city center
The most convenient way to get from Nantes Airport to the city center is to take the direct “Navette Aeroport Nantes” bus.
The bus stop is in front of the airport and the service runs every 20 minutes, with the first bus at 05:30 in the morning and the last at 23:00 from Monday to Saturday, and on Sundays and public holidays the frequency is 30 minutes from 06:15 until 23:00.
After this time you can take an Uber or a cab.
Alternatively, you can rent a car at the airport and drive to Nantes with complete freedom. For car rental in Europe I use and recommend Discovercars, which in my opinion has the best conditions.

Car rental at Nantes Airport
The main car rental companies at Nantes airport are Avis, Hertz, Dollar, Budget, Europcar and RentScape, the latter of which is usually the best value at Nantes airport.
However, you will need to take a shuttle to the RentScape offices, as they are not located at the airport.
On the other hand, if you choose to rent a car with ren-a-car Dollar, the counter is outside the terminal.
The other rent-a-car counters are in front of the airport and it is there that you should sign the car rental contract documents and collect the keys.
To guarantee the best prices and availability of rental cars, it’s best to book online in advance.
As I mentioned before, I use Discovercars, which not only works with the main car rental companies, but also has very reasonable prices.
Once you’ve collected your rental car, take the E3 towards Nantes and in about 20 minutes you’ll have reached your destination.
