Everything you need to know before booking a hotel in Almería

Where is the best place to stay in Almería?

The best area to stay in Almería depends on the type of trip you’re planning.

So, if you want to be close to the action, the city center is ideal, with easy access to restaurants, stores and historical monuments.

For those who prefer the beach and tranquillity, areas by the sea, such as the Costa de Almería, are an excellent choice.

But if you’re planning to explore the Cabo de Gata Natural Park, you can opt for accommodation closer to this natural area to make the most of nature.

How many days to stay in Almería?

2-3 days will allow you to get to know the city, visit the Alcazaba, go to the beach and try tapas. However, to explore Cabo de Gata at your leisure, it’s best to book 4 or 5 days.

How much do hotels cost in Almería?

Hotel prices in Almería vary depending on the time of year, the location and the category of accommodation. However, on average, the prices per night are:

  • 1 to 2 star hotels: from €30 per night.
  • 3-star hotels: between €66 and €87 per night.
  • 4-star hotels: around 79 € to 103 € per night.
  • 5-star hotels: around 94€ to 120€ per night.

So, to get the best rates, it’s advisable to book in advance, especially during the high season, which runs from June to August.

Also, opting for stays during the week, such as Tuesday to Thursday, can result in lower prices.

Is it necessary to rent a car?

Not in the city. But to visit Cabo de Gata, the Tabernas Desert or towns like Níjar, a car makes a lot of difference.

To book a car online, I use and recommend Discovercars, which is where I usually find the best prices.

Is it a safe city?

Yes, Almería is very safe and pleasant to walk around.
