After exploring several stores on Sal Island and engaging in conversations with the friendly locals/employees, I decided to go shopping on Rua 1 de Junho in Santa Maria. There, I found wooden pictures and “no stress” bracelets, which made perfect souvenirs for the kids.
I must say that it seems to me that Cape Verdeans are more engaging in conversations than Senegalese immigrants, adding a personal touch to the shopping experience.
