TAP Air Portugal is a Portuguese flag carrier airline, headquartered in Lisbon, and a member of the STAR Alliance. It is the national carrier in Portugal.
The FlyTap brand belongs to TAP Air Portugal and transports millions of travelers annually to over 90 destinations.
FlyTap’s main hub is at Humberto Delgado Airport in Lisbon.
Our family regularly travels with TAP, so in this article, I will provide you with some information about FlyTap, including relevant tips for traveling with this airline.
I will also provide some considerations about online check-in procedures and useful contact phone numbers and email addresses.
So, are you ready to join us on this journey?

How does Flytap’s online check-in work?

The online check-in service provided by TAP is very convenient, and as frequent travelers, we almost always use this service.
Usually, online check-in is available on TAP’s website or app 36 hours before departure, or 24 hours in advance for flights to the United States.
However, if you are traveling with checked baggage, you must drop it off at FlyTap’s drop-off counters at the airport.
Keep in mind possible traffic delays and arrive at the airport early to drop off your bags.
Remember that boarding usually begins 45 minutes before the flight, so it’s important to factor in the time needed to drop off checked baggage and go through security when calculating your arrival time.
Tip: Take a screenshot of your boarding passes in case the app malfunctions. We’ve had our boarding passes disappear from the system halfway through verification. When the staff was scanning the boarding passes at the gate, they could only scan two, and the other two had to be manually entered by the staff.
What is TAP Air Portugal’s stopover?

A stopover is a layover in the middle of a journey, usually on medium and long-haul flights. TAP offers an interesting stopover program for those wishing to visit Portugal.
The TAP Air Portugal stopover program is available in Lisbon and Porto. This means that if you’re on an eligible flight, you can stay for a few nights in Lisbon or Porto at no extra cost for your TAP ticket.
All the information is available on the airline’s website.
What are the telephone contacts and email for FlyTap?
TAP telephone contact: +351 21 123 4406 or +351 21 843 1100 (Monday to Sunday, from 8:00 to 24:00 (WET), Portugal mainland time).
TAP customer support email: customer@tapmilesandgo.com.
Extra tip: We’ve found that when we need urgent assistance, it’s a good idea to leave a comment on social media.
Note: We’ve made every effort to provide reliable content and report our experiences using TAP’s services. However, rules and services may change without notice, so we recommend doing your own research.
Our experience traveling with TAP

Despite recurring news about delays and issues with TAP Air Portugal, truth be told, I have never had any problems.
Perhaps I’ve been lucky, but the fact remains that I have never encountered any setbacks with TAP flights.
For this reason, TAP continues to earn my trust, and I have no reservations about booking flights with the Portuguese carrier.
Does TAP Air Portugal serve meals on board?
The meals served on TAP flights depend on the flight schedule and duration. In recent years, the complimentary meals on TAP flights have somewhat declined in quality, but for short flights, I find them perfectly acceptable.
Therefore, on medium-haul flights, they serve a light meal, while on short flights, they only offer a snack.
Which airlines are part of the Star Alliance?

There are 26 airlines in the Star Alliance: AEGEAN, Air Canada, Air China, Air India, Air New Zealand, All Nippon Airways, Asiana Airlines, Austrian Airlines, Avianca, Brussels Airlines, Copa Airlines, Croatia Airlines, EGYPTAIR, Ethiopian Airlines, EVA Air, LOT Polish Airlines, Lufthansa, Scandinavian Airlines, Shenzhen Airlines, Singapore Airlines, South African Airways, Swiss International Air Lines, TAP Air Portugal, Thai Airways, Turkish Airlines and, finally, United Airlines.
