Everything You Need to Know Before Traveling to Sal Island Airport

Is It Worth Renting a Car?

If your goal is to explore the island more independently, renting a car can be an excellent option.

Sal Island is relatively small and easy to get around, with just one main road connecting most tourist attractions.

Having a car allows you to visit places like Santa Maria beach, the Pedra de Lume salt flats, or even explore the island’s interior.

There are several car rental companies at the airport, and you can book in advance to secure better prices.

Although Sal Island Airport is small, it is possible to spend the night in the terminal, especially if you have an early morning flight.

However, there aren’t many amenities available overnight, as shops and cafés close after the last flight. The seating in the terminal is basic, so don’t expect much comfort.

If you need a more comfortable option, there are several hotels near the airport, such as the Hilton Cabo Verde Sal Resort (5 stars), located just a 15-minute drive away.
