The small village is sheltered by the Penedos de Góis, which are cliffs reaching 1040 meters in altitude and mark the beginning of the Serra da Lousã.
We visited the village of Pena on a hot summer day, but the coolness of the Ribeira da Pena, or Ribeira Stream and the mountain air greatly alleviated the heat. It was an unforgettable day!

The Pena Schist Village may be small in size, but there are quite a few attractions to keep visitors entertained.
Our recommendation is to park your car at the village entrance and explore on foot.
Right at the entrance, you’ll be greeted by a centuries-old chestnut tree.
Before starting your stroll, you can check the panel showing the location of the main tourist spots in the village.
