O que é o Lough Rynn Castle Hotel?
Lough Rynn Castle Hotel is a historic 19th-century castle converted into a charming hotel, located in Mohill, County Leitrim, Ireland.
It was formerly the residence of the Clements family and retains much of its original architectural grandeur, such as stone walls, stained glass windows, and woodwork details.
In other words, guests have the real feeling of sleeping in a castle.
The location is excellent, surrounded by walled gardens, walking trails, and overlooking Lough Rynn.
In fact, walking through the gardens is almost mandatory, especially in spring, when the flowers transform the space into a scene worthy of a painting.
Inside, the hotel combines history and modern comfort. The rooms are equipped with modern amenities, but preserve period features that enhance the authenticity of the experience.
There are options ranging from classic rooms to more spacious suites, suitable for extended stays or special occasions.
Another highlight is the Sandstone Restaurant, known for its use of local produce and carefully prepared dishes.
Even those who are not staying at the hotel can reserve a table and enjoy a meal in an elegant setting.
Lough Rynn Castle Hotel is also a venue for weddings and private events, thanks to its romantic atmosphere and natural surroundings.
For those who have always dreamed of sleeping in a castle, this is an opportunity to do so in comfort, immersively, and without resorting to artificial recreations.

Staying at Lough Rynn Castle Hotel: my experience
Sleeping in a castle always seemed like something distant to me, reserved for movies or old stories.
However, my stay at Lough Rynn Castle Hotel in County Leitrim showed me that it is possible to have this experience in a very real way.
As I walked through the main lobby, I noticed the carved wood details, thick carpets, and lit fireplaces, which create a cozy atmosphere despite the grandeur.
What’s more, my room looked like something out of a movie set.
The imposing four-poster bed, the windows overlooking the gardens, and the period armchairs created an atmosphere worthy of a historical film.

I also found small gestures of hospitality: a basket of fresh fruit, a plate of sweets, and a welcome card that reinforced the feeling of care for each guest.
The bathrobe embroidered with the castle’s emblem and matching slippers were just some of the details that made the stay even more comfortable.

Exploring the walled gardens and lakeside trails proved to be just as special as being inside the castle.
Every corner seemed designed to be discovered calmly, without haste.
In short, staying at Lough Rynn Castle Hotel is more than just sleeping away from home.
It is stepping into a part of Irish history, feeling the atmosphere of an authentic castle, and at the same time enjoying the comfort of a quality hotel.

The Sandstone Restaurant
Another highlight of the stay was dinner at the Sandstone Restaurant, where each dish reflected the quality of the local ingredients.
The elegant atmosphere completed the experience, making the meal unforgettable.
I started with Scallop Tempura, fresh scallops, lightly breaded and fried, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, accompanied by a delicate sauce that enhanced the flavor of the sea.
For the main course, I chose the Roasted Leitrim Beef Fillet, slow-roasted meat from the Leitrim region, juicy and tender, served with vegetables and purées that perfectly balanced the dish.
To finish, I surrendered to the Chocolate Fondant, with a firm exterior and a creamy, melted interior, served with a little surprise that made the dessert even more indulgent.
Each wine that accompanied the meal was selected with the attentive guidance of Cláudio, who helped us choose the perfect pairings.

Breakfast is also worth mentioning. Served in the John McGahern Library, the peaceful atmosphere is perfect for starting the day.
My American-style pancakes were irresistible, fluffy and tasty, with the ideal combination of texture and sweetness.

At Lough Rynn Castle Hotel, you can also enjoy traditional afternoon tea, served in the imposing Baronial Hall, which I had the opportunity to try as a light meal on my last day before leaving the hotel.

In short, between exquisite meals, delicious breakfasts, and tea breaks, the dining experience at Lough Rynn is complete, delivering authentic flavors.
