Iberia Airlines, also known as Líneas Aéreas de España, is Spain’s primary airline, operating flights to over 300 destinations with 166 aircraft, spanning 46 countries across Europe, Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and the Americas.

Headquarters are in Madrid, with operations centered at Madrid-Barajas Airport (MAD).

It’s a key carrier bridging Europe and Latin America. Also, it’s part of the IAG – International Airlines Group and Oneworld alliance.

With competitive prices, it’s a preferred choice for many travelers, including our family. So, in this article, I share essential information for planning your trips. Hope this helps you!

Information about Iberia Airlines’ online check-in

The rules for online check-in with Iberia Airlines depend on the type of ticket you purchase.

We almost always opt for the most economical fare available and check in online at home the day before.

We don’t worry about doing it too far in advance because we’ve installed the Iberia app on both our phones, allowing us to handle everything comfortably up to 1 hour before boarding.

Please note that if you have special needs, are traveling with pets, or have unaccompanied minors, you will be required to check in at the airport.

Rules for carry-on luggage

Just like in the situation described above, the baggage rules depend on the type of ticket you purchase.

Therefore, if you’re traveling in economy class, you can carry one carry-on bag (56 cm X 45 cm X 25 cm) and one personal item, such as a purse, but it must not exceed the following dimensions: 40 cm X 30 cm X 15 cm.

How does the Iberia’s Hola Madrid stopover work?

The Iberia’s Hola Madrid stopover is a promotion that allows you to add up to nine nights in Madrid without paying extra for your airplane ticket.

Moreover, those who opt for this stopover can benefit from discounts on accommodation, museums, and activities in Madrid.

So, how does it work? Typically, the Hola Madrid stopover is available on international flights operated by this airline. If you’re interested, check if you’re eligible on the Iberia website.

Final considerations about Iberia Airlines

Traveling with Iberia Airlines

We’ve always had a good experience with Iberia Airlines, and that applies to all the flights we’ve taken with this airline.

However, what really attracts me to this low-cost carrier is the affordable prices they offer.

Of course, finding good deals requires dedicating some time to monitoring fares, but as a general rule, the earlier you purchase your ticket, the better chance you have of finding a good deal!

*What we’ve written here reflects our experience as passengers with Iberia. However, considering that rules can change at any time, I recommend confirming any information you deem relevant.
