If you’re looking for information about the Enchanted Forest in Porta do Mezio (Arcos de Valdevez) and you’re one of the more than 100,000 visitors expected in 2024, then you’re in the right place!
Although the fourth edition of the event was in jeopardy because they couldn’t guarantee the safety of visitors, fortunately they managed to find a solution that allows the Enchanted Forest to continue.
What is already known are the opening dates, the new location at Porta do Mezio, that there will be a Christmas Market in the forest, and that it will be something completely new!
👉 Take note: the Enchanted Forest will take place between December 1, 2024 and January 12, 2025!🎄

However, as I mentioned before, the Enchanted Forest has moved to Porta do Mezio, which has good access conditions adapted for people with reduced mobility. There are also some surprises in store.
Which ones? At the moment, we only know that there will be a Christmas Market in the forest, but I’m confident that there will be more activities that will enrich the experience of those who visit the region.
So, this is an updated article, in which I will add more information as it becomes known.
In the meantime, read on and take a look at the photos that were all over social media last year!

What can you expect from a visit to the Enchanted Forest?
From the number of articles about Christmas you can find on this blog, you can easily tell that our family is particularly fond of traveling at this time of year.
Well, there’s nothing better than getting to know the Christmas initiatives that take place close to home, such as Arcos de Valdevez!
According to the organization’s official figures, around 72,000 people visited the Enchanted Forest last year, and we were among them!
And what can you expect from a walk through the Enchanted Forest? Well, without wanting to spoil the surprise, expect an enchanted world….
The path is illuminated with lights and, in the trees and bushes, you’ll discover little magical beings hidden away.
It’s very similar to a treasure hunt, but a Christmas version! I recommend it!

Accommodation in Arcos de Valdevez
As the lights are most beautiful when it’s dark, I recommend that you stay at least one night in Arcos de Valdevez.
I usually stay at the Ribeira Collection Hotel by Piamonte Hotels (4 stars) or the Luna Arcos Hotel Nature & Wellness (4 stars), although I prefer the former.
In any case, I think you’ll be comfortable in either of these two hotels.
However, if you want to explore other accommodation options in Arcos de Valdevez, take a look at the map below.

Restaurants in Arcos de Valdevez
I’m sure you’ll be hungry after your walk through the Enchanted Forest, so here are my suggestions for restaurants in the town center:
- A Floresta, the highlight of which is the Posta de Cachena with tarrestre rice;
- Flume Restaurante & Bar, for a dinner with colorful sangrias and boards to share;
- Pizzeria Romanza, for a dinner with an Italian flavor.

However, there are other restaurant options in the region, such as the famous Saber ao Borralho in Soajo.
