Christmas Markets in Porto 2025: Discover the Dates, Lights, and Must-See Attractions.
Are you looking for information on the best Christmas markets in Porto? Well, I don’t know if they’re the best, but in this article you’ll find all the information you need to make the most of each of Porto’s Christmas markets.
However, I must tell you that this is an updated post. In other words, not all the information about Invicta’s Christmas markets is available.
So far, we have official confirmation of two very important Christmas markets: Cordoaria (Jardim João Chagas) and Praça da Batalha.
However, last year we had other markets, which I believe will continue in 2025. So, as soon as I have information about these markets, I promise to update this article.

✔️Where to stay in Porto during Christmas and New Year: If you don’t have time to read the whole article, then know that I recommend the Hotel PortoBay Teatro (4 stars), located in the heart of the city, just a few minutes’ walk from Avenida dos Aliados and the Christmas market. Another excellent option is the Eurostars Porto Centro (4 stars), centrally located and ideal for exploring the markets, lights, and Christmas festivities without needing transportation.




Porto Christmas Market in Cordoaria (Jardim João Chagas)
The Cordoaria Christmas Market, i.e. the market in Jardim João Chagas, will be open from November 30 to December 30, 2025, and the opening hours are Monday to Thursday, from 11:00 to 20:00; Fridays and public holiday eves, from 11:00 to 21:00; Saturdays, from 10:00 to 21:00; and Sundays, from 10:00 to 20:00.

Porto Christmas Market 2025 in Praça da Batalha
Another iconic Christmas market in Porto is Praça da Batalha. There you’ll find stalls selling handicrafts, fashion, jewelry, toys and food.
As for the dates it will be open, you can visit this market from November 29 to December 29, 2025.



Serralves Christmas Market 2025
The Serralves Christmas Market returns to Serralves Park from December 6 to 8, 2025, with free admission.
The event will feature 50 exhibitors, with design products, gourmet foods, Christmas decorations, and toys.
You can also expect creative workshops, street food, and live concerts, as well as special offers for Friends of Serralves.
An excellent opportunity to find unique gifts and enjoy activities for the whole family.
Opening hours: 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
WOW It’s Christmas! (to be confirmed)
The Christmas celebrations in the cultural district of Gaia promise to be spectacular! So, between November 23 and January 6, 2025, mark WOW It’s Christmas in your calendar.
That’s because WOW is transforming itself this Christmas with activities for all ages.
As I mentioned, the program begins on November 23 with the lighting of the 13-meter Christmas tree and dance and choir performances.
In addition, with families in mind, on weekends and school holidays, there is a Gastronomic Market, children’s performances, and the Christmas Market with national brands.
The highlights are Santa’s House, open from December 7, and the New Year’s Concert on January 4.
And, of course, all this accompanied by a mug of hot chocolate or mulled wine.
Time Out Porto Christmas Market
Time Out Market Porto celebrates Christmas between November 29 and January 5, 2026, at Praça de Almeida Garrett, opposite São Bento Station.
The event includes the Urban Market Xmas Edition, live concerts, creative workshops, and exclusive gastronomic experiences.
It’s the perfect opportunity to find original gifts, taste delicacies, and create memories with family and friends.

The inauguration of the Christmas lights in Porto will be on December 1, 2025.
Where are the most beautiful Christmas lights?
For me, the most beautiful Christmas lights in Porto are those on Rua dos Clérigos, Igreja de Santo Ildefonso, Rua das Flores and Rua de Santa Catarina.



What’s New Year’s Eve going to be like in Porto?
There’s still no official New Year’s Eve program in Porto, but based on past years, I think it’s safe to expect the traditional fireworks and multimedia show.
In addition, the epicenter of the New Year’s Eve celebrations should be Avenida dos Aliados. But, as I said before, we’ll have to wait until they release the official program of the festivities.

Where to see New Year’s Eve fireworks in Porto?
The Ribeira area of Porto is one of the most popular places to watch the fireworks in Porto. However, it’s also one of the places that fills up quickly.
Therefore, the alternatives for watching the New Year’s Eve fireworks in Porto are Jardim do Morro and Cais da Estiva.

Are there Christmas activities for families in Porto?
Yes, there are many Christmas activities in Porto specially designed for families.
So, my main suggestions are (TBC):
- November 16: Nutcracker and The Ice Kingdom – MAR Shopping Matosinhos;
- December 1: CHRISTMAS – FC Porto Museum;
- December 8: Christmas Stars – Casa da Música;
- December 15: Singing Christmas – Casa da Música;
- December 21st: Workshop for Families – Snow Globes – Oficina Josefina;
- December 28: WHERE ARE THE PRESENTS, SANTA? – FC PORTO MUSEUM.
