If you’re looking to find out how far in advance you should buy a cruise trip, then you’ve come to the right place! Although, in my opinion, there isn’t a completely true answer!
That’s because you can either get good prices by booking far in advance or take advantage of last-minute promotions!
I think the trick is to know what works best for you! Should you buy as early as possible to secure a reasonable price, or try your luck with promotions closer to the travel date?
Today, we’ll explore these two realities, so don’t expect a definitive answer to the question: How far in advance should I buy a cruise?
👉Did you know this is the third most asked question when it comes to cruise travel, right after whether it’s worth it to take ship excursions and whether it’s worth buying drink packages on cruises?
How far in advance should I buy a cruise trip?

The immediate answer is as soon as possible, as typically the most economical cabins are the first to be sold.
And to prove this theory, cruises for the next three years are currently available for sale!
Additionally, by booking well in advance, you can calmly choose your flights and/or transfers.
However, it’s not always possible to plan so far ahead. Personally, I wouldn’t dare book a trip so far in advance!
So, what should you do when you can’t book cruise trips well in advance?

We’ll give you a tip that isn’t without risks, so assess carefully before making a decision.
If you buy a cruise trip well in advance, chances are you won’t have to pay the full amount upfront.
Therefore, read all the fine print in the contract and make sure you can cancel the trip if you change your mind or can’t travel at that time.
Of course, you’ll lose the amount you paid for the deposit, but sometimes that amount is around 50 or 60 EUR.
Decide if you’re willing to take the risk of losing that money to secure your trip at a low price.
Or would you prefer to be certain of your travel dates and hope that prices don’t skyrocket?
Buying Last Minute Cruise Trips

Another option to consider regarding the best time to buy cruise trips is to take advantage of last-minute promotions.
As you can imagine, this choice also has its drawbacks, as there might simply be no last-minute deals available, or they could be for destinations that are not as appealing to you.
Additionally, consider airline tickets, which are typically much more expensive closer to the travel date.
However, despite the possibility of finding good prices in last-minute promotions, I prefer to book both cruise trips and airline tickets in advance. This way, I have time to organize things calmly.
